School clubs help students develop their social skills. They fine-tune their interactions with their peers and with faculty members, and they have the opportunity to connect with other students who share similar interests. These interactions may form the basis for enduring friendships. Please consider joining one of our fun groups!

Art Club / NJAHS (National Junior Art Honor Society)

Description

Students participate in extra-curricular art-making and exhibition opportunities, collaborative group art projects as well as individual creations. As members of NJAHS, they have the opportunity for juried exhibition on local, state, and national level, leadership growth opportunities, college and career preparation, and an unmatched sense of camaraderie.

Asian American Student Association (AASA)

Description

Craft Lab

Description

The Craft Lab Club is a creative space where students bring their ideas to life using Cricut machines, vinyl, paper, and a variety of other crafting materials. Whether designing custom stickers, personalizing gifts, or experimenting with paper art, students explore hands-on projects that encourage imagination, design thinking, and artistic expression. Creative Writing Club

Description

Creative Writing Club is an opportunity for students to bring tales from their imagination to life through the process of writing. Students will learn how to brainstorm, plot out, and put their thoughts into words to create the stories they wish to tell while receiving guidance from the instructor and feedback from their fellow peers. All students are welcome to join so they can have the opportunity to become authors of their own print or graphic novels.

Principal's Student Advisory Council (PSAC)

Our Principal's Student Advisory Council is for student grades 6th, 7th and 8th. To apply, students must submit an application and two teacher recommendations to Dr. McKinley. One recommendation must come from a core subject area teacher 5th through 8th grades. Applications may be picked-up in the front office or by clicking below. Deadline to apply Friday, August 15th.

Sessions Description

Our Student Advisory Council at Duluth Middle School focuses on students helping others through leadership, tutoring, and service learning. This course provides students a framework for understanding service learning through a diversity lens. Service learning is structured service experiences that enable learners to objectively reflect upon their experience and gain a deeper understanding of the experience. Students will learn about the problem-solving process, taking opportunities to participate in meaningful activities and affect our society in positive ways (civic participation), learning effective communication skills, adhering to ethical codes of practice, and exercising tolerance and advocacy of others’ rights.

We meet every other Friday from 8am - 8:50am beginning August 22nd in the Leadership Development Room. Chick-fil-A and juice or Krispy Kreme doughnut and juice breakfast is provided during each leadership session.

Readers Rally

Description

The Gwinnett Readers Rally is a quiz bowl style competition for students in grades 4–12.

Students read 10 books specifically selected by the Readers Rally committee. We meet to discuss and analyze these books. Students generate practice questions along the way. Quiz-bowl style competition with other GCPS middle schools in February.

The Wildcat Chef Cooking Club

Description

We will explore elements of culinary delights, ranging from various cultures and cooking styles, all while learning basic kitchen safety procedures and tools. Each month, we will meet to create some sort of dish together, sometimes with the help of guest chefs from our school and community. At the end of each meeting, the Cat Chefs will expand our palates by trying the food we've created, as well as various ingredients/items from that month's themed dish. Following our first month's meeting, which will be open to all interested students, those who desire to join the Cat Chefs will be required to pay a $30 one-time fee to cover the cost of materials/food.

Vex Robotics

Description

VEX Robotics is an educational robotics program which incorporates science and engineering principles, encourages creativity, teamwork, leadership, and problem solving among groups. This is a STEAM program that integrates Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics to foster critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Students will compete in at least three (3) VEX Robotics sanctioned competitive events to showcase their hard work and skills. Don’t miss out on the fun! VEX Robotics will take place afterschool at least once a week, twice if needed. Dates and times are TBD.
