Anthony Baglio

Anthony Baglio is a graduate of the University of Georgia, where he earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree and studied classical guitar performance and pedagogy under Daniel Bolshoy and Philip Snyder. In 2026, he earned a Master of Music Education degree from Georgia College & State University. Since 2021, Mr. Baglio has served as the guitar director at Duluth Middle School, where he leads one of the largest middle school guitar programs in Georgia, with more than 320 students enrolled. He also serves as the lead teacher for Gwinnett County Public Schools for grades 6-12 Guitar, Piano, and General Music, supporting curriculum development, instructional practices, and music educators across the district. Mr. Baglio is an active member of the Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) and has both presented professional development sessions at the GMEA In-Service Conference and directed student performances at the conference in 2022 and 2026.
Mr. Baglio believes every student deserves the opportunity to experience a meaningful music education, regardless of prior musical background or ability. His classroom is built on consistency, structure, and high expectations, creating an environment where students are challenged to develop not only as musicians, but also as confident, responsible, and collaborative individuals. While performance is an important part of the program, he believes music education should extend far beyond the concert stage by fostering discipline, creativity, leadership, and a lifelong appreciation for music.
Through a progressive, standards-based curriculum, Mr. Baglio strives to help students become independent musicians who can read music, listen critically, collaborate effectively, and continue making music long after they leave middle school. He is committed to continually improving his own teaching while supporting the growth of guitar education programs and expanding meaningful music-making opportunities for students and educators alike.

About Our Guitar Program

The Duluth Middle School Guitar Program is one of the largest middle school guitar programs in Georgia, serving more than 320 students in grades 6-8 through year-long guitar ensemble classes. Students perform a diverse repertoire while developing music reading skills, technical proficiency, ensemble performance, creativity, improvisation, and musical independence. Throughout the three-year sequence, students participate in increasingly challenging musical experiences that prepare them for continued participation in high school music programs, community ensembles, and lifelong music-making.
The program performs regularly at school concerts, community events, and regional conferences. Performance opportunities include Sixth Grade Guitar Day, Giocoso performance evaluation, Fine Arts Night, the Duluth Fall Festival, annual educational performance trips to Walt Disney World, performances at the High Museum of Art (2024, 2025), the Gwinnett County Board of Education (2026), and the Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) In-Service Conference (2018, 2020, 2022, and 2026). The ensemble has also been featured on GCPS TV's ArtStage: Sounds of the Season in 2014 and 2024. Through meaningful performance experiences and a commitment to musical excellence, the Duluth Middle School Guitar Program fosters confident, collaborative, and lifelong musicians.
