Lucas Legan

Hailing from Dobbs Ferry, New York, Lucas Legan has been playing the viola since the age of eight. During his secondary years, Mr. Legan was a student at the Hoff-Barthelson Music School in Scarsdale, NY, where he studied viola with Naomi Graf in addition to weekly chamber music, music theory, and musicianship instruction. In addition to his training at Hoff-Barthelson, Mr. Legan was a member of the New York Youth Symphony Orchestra, with whom he gave three performances at Carnegie Hall and a tour to Spain. These experiences led Mr. Legan to continue his musical journey at Vanderbilt University’s Blair School of Music, where he studied under the tutelage of violist Kathryn Plummer and achieved a B.M. in Music Education with minors in German and musicology, as well as an M.Ed. in Instrumental Music Education. Before teaching at Duluth Middle School, Mr. Legan was in Tennessee teaching at Metro Nashville Public Schools and Williamson County Schools and is eager to contribute his ideas and talent to Gwinnett County. Outside of teaching, Mr. Legan performs as a violist with the Gwinnett Symphony Orchestra and enjoys exploring new hiking spots with his brother, Stanley, who is a bassist.
